- Phones. Wispr Flow runs on iPhone and Android. WhisperType is for Windows and Mac only.
- A free option. If you dictate a little each week, 2,000 words on desktop may be all you need.
- Students and educators. Half price with an education email. WhisperType has no discounts.
Where WhisperType wins.
- The transcription runs on your computer. Your audio is not sent anywhere to be turned into text. Text leaves only if you turn on AI Polish with OpenAI, which is off by default. Privacy Policy.
- It transcribes offline. On a plane or behind a strict firewall, once the model is downloaded. The subscription needs a connection at least every 3 days.
- It costs less. $9 a month against $15, and $79 a year against $144.
- You choose the model. Every model from Base to Large v3, trading speed for accuracy on your own machine.
