System requirements

WhisperType 1.4.1 runs on 64-bit Windows 10 or 11 with an Intel or AMD processor and on Apple Silicon Macs with macOS 14 or later. Intel Macs run version 1.3.2, on macOS 11 or later, and transcribe slowly. An NVIDIA GPU on Windows, or Apple Silicon on a Mac, makes transcription faster; without one it runs on the CPU.

GPU acceleration details

On Windows, WhisperType uses NVIDIA CUDA when a card and its libraries are present. On Apple Silicon it uses Metal. There is nothing to configure.

  • Drivers: Latest NVIDIA Game Ready or Studio drivers
  • CUDA: the CUDA 12 libraries (cuBLAS, cuDNN)

No GPU? WhisperType runs on the CPU (slower, same features).
